Oliveira means ‘olive tree’ in Portuguese. And the olive trees are green all year round. Green is also one of the colours of the Portuguese flag – representing hope - and the colour of Vinho Verde, the famous young wine from North Portugal. Most of all green is the colour of the Portuguese countryside, dominated by an enormous variety of trees. Take a stroll around the house and you find locust trees, ‘Medronho trees’ and of course the evergreen olive trees.
